A Synopsis of the F1 Pilots’ Parking Zone at Silverstone

A Synopsis of the F1 Pilots' Parking Zone at Silverstone

Though Monaco often takes center stage for its extravagant allure, Silverstone stands as the true gem of Formula 1. Not only does it host the majority of F1 teams, but Silverstone was also the venue for the inaugural sanctioned F1 race way back in 1950.

Consequently, it has always been on my F1 wish list, and this year I finally journeyed north of London to discover what all the excitement is about. I’ll share a blog post about my experience shortly, but for now, here’s what the F1 drivers’ car park—as they term it here—looked like over the weekend.

From a multi-million-dollar McLaren Speedtail to a classic Jaguar E-Type piloted by reigning world champion Lando Norris, and the Ford Ranger of Isack Hadjar, there was a little bit of everything showcased for the enthusiastic British fans.

Mercedes – Kimi Antonelli and George Russell

While their competition may be intense on the track, their vehicles are a laid-back blue off it. (Was that too corny?)

Cadillac – Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas

Checo was cruising in the Lyriq at the team’s second home, whereas Bottas opted for his bicycle to reach the track. I actually drove past him on a country road about 4 miles from Silverstone en route to the track this morning. Good fellow.

Alpine – Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto

The soon-to-be Gucci duo arrived at the track in matching Alpine A390 EVs. However, the bumper sticker on Gasly’s definitely gave me a chuckle.

Ferrari – Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc

Due Purosangue, per favore.

VCARB – Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad

It’s quite amusing to spot a Ford Ranger alongside a Mustang Mach-E in such a prestigious parking lot. But hey, sponsorship deals are vital.

Haas F1 – Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman

My absolute favorite lineup of the weekend: Ocon’s GR Yaris and Bearman’s Dino. They don’t have to be pricey; they just need to be special. Well done, guys.

Red Bull – Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar

An inconspicuous Ford Explorer EV (for Europe only) and another Ranger Wildtrack for Hadjar.

Aston Martin – Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll

DBXs for two, please. And throw in a scooter.

Williams F1 – Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon

Albon was in a quite common Volvo XC60. In contrast, Sainz was cruising around in an elegant Bentley Bentayga.

Jerry Perez

McLaren – Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri

Lando captured attention with his stunning E-Type Jag this weekend, but the imposing McLaren Speedtail parked beside it gathered the most snapshots from onlookers. I’m uncertain if the Speedtail was driven by Piastri or team principal Zac Brown.
