I even spotted a couple of tuner vehicles styled in the Y2K “Hot Import Nights” aesthetic, which is a whole different look somewhat related to lowriders that we can explore another time.
It’s not that I had forgotten about lowriders existing—it’s just that I hadn’t encountered any up close in such a long time that I had forgotten how wild they can become. Moreover, the last ones I had witnessed were the (literally) museum-quality lowriders showcased at the Petersen a few years ago. It was genuinely enjoyable to see the extreme measures people took to make their vehicles incredibly low and gleaming. As always, I somewhat favor witnessing what inventive DIYers with limited time and budget can produce rather than what the elite can create with endless resources.
