Hello! Long time no chat, but Friday Finds is back baby!
I’ve been here but I haven’t been here lately. Mike says I checked out of the blog and I think there’s a bit of truth in that, even though I loathe to admit it. But I’m back now with some Friday Finds links for you. These days everyone wants less screen time, but if you’re looking for some interesting articles, this is what I looked at this week:
- Why is this the timeline we live in? Kelly Clarkson vs Art of Play, a Brooklyn curio store.
- All you can eat bread. But not just all you can eat bread, all you can eat Japanese bread in Osaka.
- Have you guys had marmite before? I’m not a fan, but this simple spaghetti with just parm and “meat extract” sounds kinda good? You can make it with Bovril too and I have had that before and am a fan. I should try it!
- These giant plush Japanese treats are too cute

- Back in high school, I was obsessed with Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire. It was a different time and I got so much flack for liking vampires. I’d like to think that I’m over people teasing me (maybe I am and maybe I’m not) but this was an interesting read about Lestat and how literary characters become part of the collective consciousness.
- An interesting read by a woman who revisits her life back in 1990.
- The article above mentions smells going straight to the memory center and my smell obsession is Japanese laundry detergent, specifically Laundrin. The classic floral is all crisp linen, clean notes and last year, when we were in Tokyo, I brought home enough to last me until now. I’m going to run out soon though, so maybe it’s time to go back to Japan.

- I love branding design and Fellowkids is a great example of what I love.
- Last one – do you like potatoes? I do, very much. So much that I have a potato mail club! Every month I mail out art and stickers featuring sad potato, a small potato with big feelings. If that sounds like something you’d like to check out, you can take a look here.

What I’ve been making/eating lately
- I’ve been making this Italian penicillin soup on repeat, but more of a remix because I’ve moved on to using honeynut squash because honeynuts are in season and they are so good. I add kale and shredded chicken and I love it so much I’ve been having it for breakfast because soup is always a good idea.
- The other day Mike asked me what I wanted for dinner and I said soup, of course. I wanted a giant bowl of his famous chicken pho. It was AMAZING. He made it what he called, extra simple, kid-style with not too many spices. The bowls only had shredded drumsticks, noodles, and pho soup and it was the most comforting thing I’ve eaten in a while. So good we had it the next day too.
- Pizza bean burritos. Bean and cheese burritos, yes please, but with leftover pizza beans. All burritos are good burritos but a burrito isn’t a burrito if it doesn’t have beans.
- Pumpkin cream cold foam on everything. I can’t believe it but I’ve only had one starbies this season and it’s thanks to this recipe Really, we have starbies at home.
- Mike and I have been on a dim sum at home kinda era and this steamed sticky rice with chicken, Chinese sausage, and shiitakes is always on the menu.

I’ve also been testing some things coming soon to the blog: two kinds of cookies, more cold foams, and some other secret things. One of the cookies I’ve been playing around with are those cookie balls I’ve been seeing all over my fyp. At first I thought they were AI because they’re so perfectly round and perfect looking. But then I saw someone make them and I was like, me too, I wanna do it too.
I’m just easing into friday finds but I’m going to commit to weekly friday finds, so please hop on by on Fridays. It would make me so happy 🙂
have a great weekend, pls have some soup, bye!
xoxo steph

PS – If you’re here and an OG (original grandma for anyone who isn’t an elderly millennial) and remember Friday Finds, please leave a comment because I kinda sort of checked out of the blog because I felt like I was posting into the void. Maybe I still am posting into the void but I think that’s something I need to do, so hello void.
