F1 driver Fernando Alonso (currently sitting 21st in the standings) has just taken delivery of an incredibly unique Pagani Zonda Diamante Verde. Ultra high-end vehicle broker Mechatronik presented him the car in Monaco … featuring a Recaro child seat in colors that match his racing helmet. Having recently become a father, it seems the seat was more of a symbolic gesture than an immediate necessity. Nevertheless, I found it to be quite cool and endearing.
The child seat itself is considerably less extravagant than the car it resides in. It appears to be a Recaro Axion 1, available in Europe for under $400. This seat is designed for older children rather than newborns, so it seems its primary role here was to facilitate these photo opportunities. Alonso’s child was born only weeks back and is likely years away from fitting into Paganis. However, the child undoubtedly has a lifetime of remarkable driving experiences to anticipate, being the offspring of an F1 champion.
Mechatronik enlisted photographer Alex Penfold to capture these moments of the car being revealed to the Spanish racer. Swipe through to check out the seat perfectly coordinated with Alonso’s 2026 season helmet:
The “Diamante Verde” was crafted in 2017 on what Pagani refers to as a Carbo-Titan chassis. This innovative composite material weaves carbon fiber with titanium strands, creating an exceptionally robust, rigid, and lightweight monocoque structure. Powering this vehicle is a Mercedes-AMG 7.3-liter V12 that delivers an exhilarating 760 horsepower at over 8,000 rpm. It features notably broad front arches, and the hood design originally intended for the Zonda 760LM (another unique eight-figure marvel from Pagani’s factory). With an intake snorkel positioned right above the occupants and a ceramic-coated exhaust that resembles a musical instrument, the speed in this car promises to be an extraordinary experience.
And if you’re looking to prolong your procrastination, browse through some of the other incredible machines Mechatronik has offered. The German company’s stock makes Bring-a-Trailer resemble a used car dealership on Route 17.
