Today, President Trump revealed that the military-Escalade concept is now a reality, and he’s placing an order for 250 units.
“The one and only Escalade,” the President expressed during his hour-long speech. “You know we ordered, I think, 250 Escalades, right? We ordered 250 Escalades … We look sharp in those Escalades.” He also made several remarks critiquing the UAW president.
An Escalade generally costs around $90,000, so this order would total over $22,500,000. It remains uncertain whether these will be standard Escalades for general transport or armored versions similar to the concept displayed last year. Most likely, they will be equipped with some modifications and will be priced higher than the Escalades available for lease at your local Cadillac dealership.
While specifications have not been revealed, these vehicles will likely be based on GM HD pickup truck chassis with robust axles and armor. Even a “basic” armored Escalade can easily exceed $300,000 in cost.
However, if these Escalades resemble the vehicle teased by the USSS previously, the “Escalade” designation will primarily refer to the bumpers and external trim. It will likely share the same foundational structure as the existing Suburbans.
USSS also operates a large mobile command center bus, various Ford and Chevy SUVs, and at least one Terradyne Gurkha tactical vehicle, constructed on a Ford Super Duty platform.
