“There will eventually be a limit, as zero is the boundary,” Lamborghini Chief Marketing Officer Federico Foschini remarked to The Drive, referring to the impossibility of achieving 0-60 in zero seconds.
One of the most influential figures at the prestigious Italian manufacturer acknowledged the laws of physics just before stating, “emotion encompasses not just the sound, but also the way you feel involved during moments of braking, acceleration, and gear changing.”
In a time when SUVs with three rows have more power than Lamborghini’s most recent Super Veloce supercar, Foschini described how enhancing a car’s performance needs to be more comprehensive than it has been in the past.
Foschini told The Drive, “That’s why we chose to not only enhance the car’s longitudinal performance but also bring these [additional attributes] onto the track. Importantly, and you will see with [the power] routing, it’s not just about pure performance; it’s also about the sensations it provides you as such a complex system, enabling you to manage, let’s say, a powerful car while significantly reducing, or even eliminating, the perception of weight, allowing you to control or properly handle this kind of powertrain over 1000 hp.”
That “sensation” of being able to manage and conquer a racetrack with over 1,000 hp is what Foschini identified as emotion through engagement.
“As you can observe, we have focused precisely on this area, right? We have concentrated on braking, on minimizing shifting time, and boosting responsiveness. These are all facets that enhance your driving emotion, increasing your involvement, and providing you with the feeling that, even if you are not a professional driver, you can manage a car with any kind of power, deserving this level of performance even for non-professional drivers,” Foschini stated.
Foschini added, “And this is what we aspire to achieve, you know, to extend performance not only to racing drivers, but also to everyday drivers, those with skills that aren’t necessarily professional.”
To facilitate this, Lamborghini has launched a Pilota driving mode in the new Revuelto SV. This mode is reportedly based on the company’s GT3 racing program with five levels of control across the ABS, traction control, and stability control systems.
How else Lamborghini will transform emotion beyond just sound into engagement remains to be seen. Foschini did not expand, but the latest Revuelto model suggests possibilities for the future.
