Undoubtedly, the rollout of the new Dodge Charger has faced challenges. Dodge is making every effort to win over fans of the new muscle car beyond just dropping a V8 beneath the hood, at least for now. Nonetheless, even without the V8, the design and marketing teams clearly grasped their objective. The revived icon even features an Attitude Adjustment function. You can’t invent this stuff. It’s printed on the vehicle’s window sticker!
During my experience with the gas-powered 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack, which left the car inoperable three times, the features and design stood out remarkably. While taking photographs of the four-door charger in a parking lot, I browsed through the menus and found an application called Attitude Adjustment. What’s that? Launching the app unveiled Stellantis’ marketing brilliance in action.
The Attitude Adjustment app found in the Dodge Charger represents the branding for the car’s interior ambient lighting controls. While interior ambient lighting isn’t a novel concept, the way the Dodge Charger’s team branded this feature straddles the line between clever and awkward. Your perspective may differ.
However, Team Dodge didn’t simply rename its ambient lighting system in the Charger to appeal to its target market. No, indeed. Attitude-Adjustment Lighting is an actual item on the car’s window sticker. This feature is part of the test vehicle’s $4,995 Customer Preferred Package 22B, which encompassed other amenities like ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a 16-inch digital gauge cluster, Performance Pages in the infotainment system, a head-up display, a surround-view camera setup, a wireless charging pad, a power rear hatch, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and many more features.
The Attitude Adjustment is merely one instance of Stellantis’ marketing and branding genius at work. When Ram reintroduced the Hemi V8 in the Ram 1500, it famously labeled the change as a “Symbol of Protest.” But the automaker didn’t stop there. The “Symbol of Protest” actually appears as a badge on the truck’s fender. Furthermore, this badge is a real line item on the truck’s window sticker. The three-row Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat? It’s a family vehicle that features the little human icon on the climate control display sporting a racing helmet in a family vehicle. If we take a trip down memory lane, the original Challenger Hellcat was supposed to showcase a Supercharged badge on the front fenders. A pre-production model I assessed even sported the Supercharged badge on the fender. The Hellcat logo wasn’t initially set to be on the front fender, but it emerged right before production began, solidifying its place in automotive history.
You have to admire Stellantis and its marketing crew; no other automotive manufacturer generates more inventive promotions directed at their customers.
