On Thursday, during the Stellantis restructuring presentation, the head of the Americas, Tim Kuniskis, revealed who’s in charge. Spoiler: it’s him. And he’s about to hand everyone a Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT. I witnessed it. No images permitted.
Here’s what I can share.
The Scrambler is a two-door Gladiator-inspired pickup truck. It features four seats, and the doors will be a bit longer to provide easier access to the back seats. A side step is also included to simplify entry to those rear seats.
I mention entry because similar to the K5 Chevrolet Blazer, the hardtop can be removed from the rear section. The front hardtop panels? They are “freedom panels” from the Wrangler and detach with a few twists of some latches. Even more astonishing is the fact that the second-row seats will be (somehow, it’s not clear at this moment) able to be turned around. Thus, those in the back can face backward with the roof off, jump seat style.
The front end features a shark-nose design with the top edge of the hood sloping forward. The headlights are somewhat square. The front design seems to be a blend of the Convoy concept from the 2025 Easter Jeep Safari (the main image of this article) and the Wrangler Anvil 715 Concept from this year’s Easter Jeep Safari, complete with the mail-slot intake on the hood.
The front will utilize an independent suspension setup. Thomas Sacoman, senior vice president of product planning, informed me that the rear will adopt a similar configuration, but Kuniskis later retracted that statement, indicating Jeep is “trying” to implement IRS in the mix. So, what will be under the Scrambler when it goes into production remains uncertain at this stage. The vehicle I saw today was a 3D-printed model. If Stellantis successfully executes this ambitious plan, the Scrambler could arrive by 2030.
Clearly derived from the Gladiator, the Scrambler will be part of the SRT lineup. At this time, it’s uncertain what engine will be included, but I’d expect to see a 392 cubic-inch 6.4-liter Hemi V8, since Kuniskis confirmed that the Gladiator is receiving the Wrangler’s 392.
