Indy 500 Tickets Are Sold Out Again

If you haven’t secured a grandstand seat for the 2026 Indy 500, I’m afraid to inform you that you’re out of luck. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced Wednesday morning that all reserved seating for the 110th edition of the renowned race is currently sold out. This marks the second consecutive year that the venue has sold out in advance of race day.

IMS has a capacity of 250,000 seats, but the expansive venue can accommodate upwards of 100,000 people in the infield. These tickets are exclusively General Admission, and attendees range from dedicated racing enthusiasts who prefer the infield view to party-goers who are more interested in the festivities than the race itself. IMS predicts that 300,000 to 350,000 individuals will attend this year’s event.

The track, owned by Roger Penske, has seen numerous upgrades since his acquisition in 2020, refurbishing infrastructure, seating zones, displays, and many neglected areas. Personally, I believe the track could benefit from more (and larger) screens to closely follow the action from the stands, but hopefully, those will be implemented soon.

And on the topic of screens, good news for Indianapolis residents: with tickets sold out, the local TV blackout has been lifted. If you’re outside Indiana, this may not concern you, but for those within state lines, you know that the race is typically not broadcast live within a certain proximity to the track. Now that all tickets have been sold, fans will be able to watch the race on television in real time.

This is fantastic news for a sport that continues to grow each year. High five!
