The vehicle yearns for speed, and you essentially have to instruct it not to—especially in Sport+ mode. Let’s assume you heed the call and press your foot down fully. You might navigate most of the way around that bend, but then you encounter a significant dip or a sharp fissure in the asphalt. You’re going to feel it, and you’ll think the steering requires correction. That’s how it unfolded for me, and just as I began to react, it miraculously regained its composure. It felt as if I never left the driving line, although it was a jolt significant enough to worry me momentarily.
Perhaps it’s because I’m more accustomed to driving large trucks than compact sports cars, but I didn’t particularly enjoy that.

The vented, four-piston Brembo brakes bite firmly and never fade during my testing on winding Ozark roads. In summary, the engine delivers strong acceleration, the front end is responsive, and the rear settles where it should. Harsh handling limits shouldn’t deter anyone from this car; you might even anticipate it.
The Positives and Negatives
I’m quite fond of the Supra’s powertrain, even if it originates from BMW. It’s important to remember that the Bavarians have produced some incredible inline-sixes, and while I’m unsure if this B58 belongs in that discussion, it’s a powerful performer. When you encounter a steep incline with a significant kink midway, it keeps pulling like you’re driving up Eau Rouge at Spa. If you prefer precision, the Supra is it; if you desire more of a hot rod feel, then the Z might be the preferable option.
Fuel Efficiency
I’ve never heard anyone mention fuel efficiency in this category, but for what it’s worth, the Supra and Z4 are comparable. Both achieve 25 mpg combined and 29 mpg on the highway, differing only on the city rating, where the Toyota achieves 22 mpg while the BMW garners 23 mpg. Nissan lags behind with its Z at 19 mpg city/28 mpg highway/22 mpg combined.
