I’m currently on a consistent 7-day run with these smoothies. I’ve literally been going to bed dreaming about them. I’ve been promoting this on Instagram all week, and here I am, at last, to share the official recipe for this wonderfully smooth and silky, luscious chocolate-cherry smoothie.

This brilliant idea came from Laura at The First Mess – I’ve been eager to make this since she shared it, and WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG!

The way I prepare it has slightly fewer ingredients:

  • vanilla soy milk
  • cherries
  • banana, spinach
  • almond butter
  • collagen + cocoa powder

I cherish this so much EVERY MORNING at the moment. And, although I don’t usually focus on protein content, it’s worth noting that this silky smooth gem delivers a solid 26 grams of protein for my mornings. I know many of us are eager to enhance our protein intake in as many delicious forms as we can.

  1. Add all ingredients to your blender; blend until creamy. I use the Beast Mini Blender for this.
  2. Pour into a glass and relish! It’s silky, rich, and incredibly tasty.

Notes

I experimented with chocolate protein powder, but I found that I liked the flavor better with unflavored collagen and cocoa powder instead (as noted in the recipe). The chocolate protein powder can have sweeteners like stevia that make it taste a bit too artificial. For me, it’s much better to add cacao powder separately.

For a complete protein with all essential amino acids, you might opt for whey protein powder. However, I personally prefer unflavored and then add cacao powder. Pea protein makes for a great vegan alternative.

Regular unsweetened soy milk or any dairy/non-dairy milk will work well here! I particularly enjoy the flavor with that Silk vanilla soy milk. (Honestly, I sometimes drink it plain – I love it.)
