What’s new is Scout CEO Scott Keogh confirming that the two vehicles will debut separately, with the SUV arriving first and the pickup being released at a later date.

Keogh informed the media during an Automotive Press Association event last week that the majority of reservations thus far have been for the Traveler. “It’s about 75% or 70% for the SUV and 25% or 30% for the truck, which aligns with our expectations. If you look at the history of Scout, it was predominantly an SUV brand. Naturally, they had the Terra, which I believe fits that pattern. Furthermore, if you consider volume in these segments, it roughly corresponds.”

This undoubtedly influenced the choice to prioritize the Traveler. Among those, most reservations will be for the range-extended Harvester variant, which employs a gas engine to charge the battery. Keogh recently stated that 87% of all current reservations have been for the EREV, rather than the fully electric version.

“What we do know is we will launch this vehicle, no question—the Traveler—and we will follow with Terra,” Keogh added.

While Rivian initially began production with the R1T pickup, it now has a greater sales volume of R1S SUVs because that’s where the consumer interest lies. EV-only versions are anticipated to achieve about 350 miles of range, while ICE-assisted models are expected to reach 500 miles or more between charges and fill-ups.
