GMC Unveils New Yellow Hummer EV as a Tribute to the Iconic H2 Model

GMC Unveils New Yellow Hummer EV as a Tribute to the Iconic H2 Model

When individuals hear the name “Hummer,” many immediately think of the original H2. That vehicle debuted 25 years ago, which is quite astonishing to consider if your brain is still buzzing with 2000s pop culture references like mine. If AM General hadn’t constructed the hefty box for consumers at the beginning of the millennium, music videos and MTV Cribs would have appeared very different. To commemorate that, GMC is producing a batch of Hummer EVs in yellow—yes, you recognize the hue.

GMC is dubbing it the Hummer EV Icon 25. It will be produced in a limited quantity with serialized plates on the dashboard, but the press statement doesn’t specify how many will be manufactured. Regardless, you’ll be able to identify one when you see it, regardless of whether it’s a truck or an SUV.

Yellow was the iconic launch color for the H2 back in 2002, and it remained through the model’s entire lifespan, which wrapped up in the 2009 model year. This time, it’s part of a striking two-tone exterior design, as all GMC Hummer EVs feature a black upper and lower section. It’s also combined with a Jet Black interior on the Icon 25 variant, although the standout color is used sparingly inside; it only appears in a few areas, such as the dash plate, with the stitching being white and notably more understated.

That’s likely the only detail that’s understated on the entire vehicle, of course. The Hummer EV delivers up to 1,160 horsepower in tri-motor 3X configuration, or 635 hp in the dual-motor 2X version with the Extreme Off-Road Package. You can obtain the Icon 25 features on either model; just refrain from asking how much it will cost, because GMC hasn’t provided that information. Not yet, at least.

These will be offered in the U.S. and Canada later this year as 2027 models. GMC is also introducing four additional exterior colors to the Hummer EV lineup: Dark Ridge, Azurite Blue, Dark Ember, and Deep Void Matte. I regret to inform you that I have no idea what any of those look like, as the company’s PR team only shared images of the yellow variants. Enjoy those, along with these nostalgic shots of the ’02 H2.
