Genesis G90 Wingback Wagon Concept Emphasizes the Importance of the Magma Color Choice

In November, Genesis successfully unveiled a G90 wagon concept almost unnoticed. It generated some buzz at the time, likely because Genesis had little to elaborate on other than “Here it is.” So, here it is once more, but with some additional insights this time—like the fact that this earthy green finish is concealing a fiery secret: this beauty’s a Magma.

So far, Hyundai’s all-encompassing Magma sub-brand has showcased an orange hue fitting its fiery name. This green hasn’t received a designation yet, but Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke mentioned that its presence here signifies that “Magma transcends mere color.”

“It’s about illustrating what is achievable when Korean innovation intersects with global aspiration,” Donckerwolke elaborated. “It represents a unique Korean perspective of care, respect, and equilibrium.”

“Magma does not scream; it beckons,” Donckerwolke continued. “While many strive for aggression and extremes, we pursue balance. Magma is crafted to be rewarding, not daunting; to enhance the driver’s experience, not to intimidate.”

This isn’t the first occasion Genesis has teased us with nearly-production-ready concept vehicles. Indeed, this isn’t the first time they have done it with the G90. Earlier this year, Genesis presented us with both a G90 Gran Coupe and a Gran Convertible. Like the Wingback, they too were based on the standard G90 chassis.

Donckerwolke mentions that Genesis desires to focus on customization, so it’s likely just a matter of time before some of these “concepts” evolve into production options. Given Genesis’s pace, that could occur quite soon. Stay alert.
