“It’s disassembled in storage because you cannot reassemble it until you obtain that harness,” Rice told CBS13. “They dispatched two specialists from Detroit who examined the vehicle, were puzzled, and remarked, ‘Wow, we have a dilemma.’”
Without a new wiring harness, the Duramax diesel Silverado ZR2 cannot operate. Rice mentioned that he inquired with General Motors about acquiring a wiring harness from a similar truck at a salvage yard, although that would nullify his warranty. He asserts that he was also informed a third party couldn’t construct a new one for the same reason. In it, he stated that State Farm refused to total the vehicle as they deemed it “hard to believe GM does not manufacture a wire harness for a truck that is less than a year old.” GM allegedly declined to buy back the pickup since it’s not a Lemon Law violation.
CBS13 reported that its attempt to contact General Motors for a statement went unanswered as of last Thursday. However, when The Drive reached out for a response, a GM representative stated, “Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have contacted the customer and are investigating this issue. We aim to resolve it as swiftly as possible.”

For what it’s worth, Rice communicated to CBS13 that the manufacturer is covering half of his monthly payment while the Silverado ZR2 remains inactive. He’s far from satisfied with that, as he prefers to drive the truck he’s paying for. Rice has lodged a complaint with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, but has yet to achieve a resolution.
“I followed all the procedures correctly,” Rice concluded. “And here I find myself in a dirt parking lot because Chevrolet doesn’t care. That’s the reality.”
