A burger served in a bowl! Fries seasoned with ranch topped with a burger patty and all the trimmings, finished with a drizzle of house sauce to elevate the experience!
It’s Simple, But My Family Adores It.
As a mom, I find various motivations for utilizing different recipes.
Then there’s the rare category of “Need Something My Entire Family Will Appreciate.” When I’m looking to ensure that all kids and adults in the home will savor a meal, that’s when I bring out these burger bowls.
Burger bowls may not be a groundbreaking idea, but these are the aspects I’ve incorporated over the last few months that have made me appreciate them so much:
- The beef cooking method (larger, juicier portions! Thanks to my friend Amanda for suggesting this concept)
- Ranch fries. (Waffle fries = easier to eat with a fork, and the ranch flavor needs no introduction. YUM.)
- House sauce. (Creamy, zesty, delightful.)
Technically, the house sauce does push the ingredient list towards a more advanced difficulty level, but it wouldn’t be right to omit it. It’s rich yet slightly tangy and delicious. And if making the sauce from scratch isn’t feasible (I’ve been there), just use a store-bought burger sauce!
Hope you enjoy these!
PS. If you’re into quick dinner recipes, don’t overlook these!

Instructions
- For the ranch fries: Bake the fries as per the package instructions. Add butter to the baking pan and toss to coat the fries with juiciness. Then mix those juicy fries with ranch seasoning, using more or less according to the quantity of fries and your ranch affection. Delicious.
- For the sauce: Mix the ingredients for your sauce. Taste and adjust with salt. Or, utilize a store-bought burger sauce!
- For the beef: Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat without oil (ensure the pan is well-seasoned). You want the pan extremely hot to sear the beef. Season one side of the ground beef with 1 teaspoon of burger seasoning. Place the seasoned side down in the hot skillet (see video for how I did this straight from the package). Resist breaking it apart immediately – let it remain undisturbed for several minutes to obtain a well-browned crust. The fat will start rendering, and browning will develop.
- To complete the beef: Sprinkle the exposed side with the additional teaspoon of seasoning. After a few minutes, flip the beef in sizable pieces – you want to break it into fork-sized bits, but not too small – this helps retain juiciness and makes it more enjoyable to eat with a fork. Once browned properly, take it off the heat.
- Assemble: Combine everything! The juicy burger bits, ranch fries, toppings, and house sauce. It’s SUPER tasty.
Notes
Burger Seasoning: This is my go-to! (affiliate link) But there are many variants we’ve tried from the store, and they’ve generally been good. Hard to miss. If you lack burger seasoning and prefer to use just salt and pepper, I recommend 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt per side on the meat.
About the beef: The aim is for juicy, medium-sized chunks with a lovely golden brown crust. Cooking on very high heat for the sear helps achieve this quickly, preventing the beef from drying out. I will even take the beef off the heat while the insides still have a hint of pink if the exterior has a nice crust. Similar to how you would cook a regular burger.
About the pan: You may opt for a different pan; I recommend cast iron for its ability to get incredibly hot and provide that nice sear. However, I’ve cooked the beef in a nonstick pan, and it still performs adequately! Not a significant issue if cast iron isn’t available.
