Mercedes Revives EQ Electric Vehicle Range with Enhanced Models

As the American EV subsidies phased out last summer, we observed the concurrent, industry-wide cessation of many electric options, including the Mercedes EQ series of electric sedans and SUVs. Or did we? Don’t blink, (or do) but the blobs are back for 2026 as if nothing ever happened.

Vehicles can remain on manufacturer websites longer than they continue production, prompting us to contact Mercedes to inquire about the situation. Indeed, a company spokesperson confirmed that all four EQ models (EQE and EQS Sedan and SUV) have resumed production after their autumn break and are available for U.S. dealerships to order once more.

“Mercedes-Benz USA temporarily modified U.S. EQ order availability last summer to align with U.S. market demand,” the spokesperson shared in an emailed statement. “We consistently optimize our production network and leverage its high flexibility to respond to fluctuations and changing market conditions to stay competitive.”

Despite the absence of electric subsidies, the EQE and EQS SUV models have one advantage still: They are manufactured right here in the U.S. (specifically, Alabama), implying that they face fewer tariff impacts.

Provided that dealers opt to order new EQs, they will share showroom space with an all-electric version of the new CLA, which abandons the bulbous “Look how electric I am” design of the EQ series for a more traditional shape akin to its gas-powered counterpart, and Mercedes has more where that came from (plus, notice that dashboard).

No updates yet on when (or if) we’ll see the refreshed models currently undergoing testing by the company’s engineers. We’ll just have to wait and see what the upcoming years bring.
