Ford sold just over 51,000 electric Mach-Es in 2025 (only 125 less than in 2024), as opposed to just over 45,000 of the conventional coupe (a reduction of about 700 units compared to 2024). The key difference is that Ford shifted most of the Mach-E sales into the initial three quarters of 2025. Sales throughout 2024 were much more consistent despite the almost identical final outcome.

With the F-150 Lightning discontinued, the Mach-E stands as the sole fully electric Ford available for mass market. Its only battery-operated companion in the showroom is the E-Transit, though that’s somewhat debatable, as it’s mainly aimed at small logistics companies. The electric delivery van is unlikely to receive a successor for the U.S. market once the current model is phased out, though Ford could consider a hybrid option in the future instead of going back to exclusively gas engines.

Nevertheless, Ford has not turned its back on electric vehicles. When Ford declared the end of the Lightning and E-Transit, the company almost simultaneously announced its plans to create an affordable, mass-market electric pickup. It is anticipated to share more characteristics with the compact Maverick than the full-size Lightning, but considering America’s preference for utility vehicles (and its affection for the little Maverick), this strategy may prove successful.
