On Thursday, near Fuji, Japan, at the reveal of the Toyota GR GT in Woven City, a significant milestone was reached: Toyota unveiled its priciest model since the LFA. Although the GR GT won’t commence production for about a year, it is now estimated to have a price of around $225,000 at launch.
This is not an exact figure, as Toyota has not disclosed such detailed pricing yet. We also lack specifics like the car’s 0-60 mph time, maximum speed, or any definitive specs aside from its dimensions. However, GR GT Project Manager Takashi Doi mentioned to The Drive, “With many GT3 cars available, consider that as a reference,” when inquired about the GR GT’s pricing.
The GT3 vehicles Doi references encompass models ranging from the Porsche 911 GT3—often used as a benchmark by automakers—to the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT and the Aston Martin Vantage S. Doi and other engineers specifically identified the first two as direct competitors that they have assessed and benchmarked.
Indeed, our sources observed Toyota evaluating what appeared to be the Lexus LFR alongside the Mercedes-Benz earlier in the fall.
The Porsche 911 GT3 starts at over $230,000 before selecting any options, and it is well-known that optional features significantly inflate a Porsche’s price. The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is priced slightly above $202,000 in the GT 63 Pro 4Matic configuration without extras, which aligns closely with what we know about the GR GT regarding performance. The Aston Martin Vantage S, on the other hand, costs between $195,000 and $215,000 depending on its selected options, and it could certainly be priced higher with additional custom features.
This substantial six-figure pricing is why the Toyota will be available at selected Lexus dealerships rather than Toyota dealerships. GR GT owners will have their vehicles serviced away from the likes of a Prius or Tundra.
