The sugar content can quickly reach 50 grams in just a single smoothie. This sugar may come from whole foods such as fruits or from added sugars. Consequently, this can lead to a spike in blood sugar, leaving many of us feeling less than optimal overall. Whether it leads to an energy crash or makes you feel famished soon after consuming.
Nutritious smoothie recipes incorporate protein, starchy carbs, non-starchy carbs (such as greens), and healthy fats. This is achieved by using what I refer to as the Foundational Five.
