It’s Not Gourmet, But My Family Adores This.
As a mom, I have various reasons to bring out different recipes.
Then there’s the rare category of “Need Something My Entire Family Will Enjoy.” When I want to ensure that every kid and adult at home will appreciate a meal, that’s when I reach for these burger bowls.
Burger bowls aren’t a completely new idea, but here are the reasons I’ve fallen in love with them over the past few months:
- The way I cook the beef (larger, juicier pieces!)
- Ranch fries. (Waffle fries = easy to eat, plus the ranch coating is just divine. YUM.)
- House sauce. (Creamy, tangy, and oh-so-good.)
Technically, the house sauce pushes the ingredient count closer to the higher end of an SOS level, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t include it. It’s rich yet has a bit of zing. And, if making it isn’t an option (I’ve been there), just grab a pre-made burger sauce!
Hope you enjoy these!
PS. If you’re into simple dinner recipes, don’t overlook these options!

Burger Seasoning: This is the one I’ve been using! (affiliate link) But there are many options we’ve tried from the grocery store and they’ve honestly all been pretty good. Hard to go wrong.
About the beef: The goal is juicy, medium-big chunks with a nice golden brown crust. Using a very high heat to get the sear helps do this quickly so the beef doesn’t get dried out. I will even pull the beef off the heat when the insides are still a little pink, if I’ve gotten that nice crust on the outside. Kind of the same way you would do for a regular burger.
About the pan: You can use a different type of pan; the reason I recommend cast iron is because it gets very hot and will be easiest to give you that nice sear. But I’ve also made the beef in a nonstick pan and it still does okay! Not a big deal if you don’t have a cast iron.

### What Constitutes a Deconstructed Burger Bowl?
A deconstructed burger bowl encompasses all the key elements of a burger—succulent ground beef, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, pickles, onions, cheese, and a zesty sauce—arranged artfully in a bowl rather than layered in buns. This method allows for more flexibility with ingredients and portion sizes, making it easier to accommodate dietary preferences and nutritional objectives.

### Essential Elements of a Burger Bowl
1. **Protein Foundation**:
Ground beef is the go-to choice, but feel free to swap it for ground turkey, chicken, or even plant-based meat alternatives. Cook the protein with straightforward seasonings like salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder for authentic burger flavor.
2. **Fresh Vegetables**:
Shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onions, and sliced pickles offer crunch and freshness. You can also incorporate avocado, sautéed mushrooms, or grilled onions for added depth.
3. **Cheese**:
A sprinkle of shredded cheddar, crumbled blue cheese, or a dairy-free substitute brings richness and unifies the bowl.
4. **Homemade Burger Sauce**:
A creamy, tart sauce shines as the highlight. Crafted from pantry staples, this sauce amplifies the bowl with an explosion of flavor (recipe below).
5. **Toppings & Add-Ons**:
Crumbled bacon, jalapeños, or even a fried egg can elevate your bowl to new heights.

3. Arrange in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet or place in the air fryer basket.
