Smoothies provide a fantastic method to achieve a nutrient-rich meal! They are brimming with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. Unfortunately, however, not all smoothies are made the same.
It’s quite simple for the sugar levels to escalate to 50 grams in a single smoothie. That sugar can originate from whole foods such as fruits or even from added sugars. Consequently, this can lead to a spike in blood sugar, leaving many of us feeling subpar overall. Whether it results in an energy crash or makes you feel hungry shortly after consumption.
Healthy smoothie recipes include protein, starchy carbs, non-starchy carbs (like leafy greens), and beneficial fats. To achieve this, utilize what I refer to as the Foundational Five.
A Foundational Five Nourish Meal is any meal that incorporates all five components of the Foundational Five framework. This includes non-starchy carbohydrates, starchy and sugary carbs, fats, protein, and the Flavor Factor.
