Smoothies offer a fantastic way to consume a nutrient-rich meal! They are filled with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. However, it’s crucial to note that not all smoothies provide the same benefits.
It’s surprisingly easy for the sugar levels to soar to 50 grams in a single smoothie. This sugar can originate from whole fruits or added sweeteners. Consequently, this may lead to a spike in blood sugar, leaving many of us feeling suboptimal. This can result in either an energy drop or a sense of hunger shortly after consumption.
Healthy smoothie recipes should include protein, starchy carbs, non-starchy carbs (like greens), and healthy fats. To achieve this, utilize what I refer to as the Foundational Five.
