What Ingredients Are in Healthy Smoothie Recipes?
Smoothies are an excellent option for a nutrient-packed meal! They’re filled with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. However, it’s important to note that not every smoothie is equally beneficial.
It’s surprisingly easy for the sugar content to soar to 50 grams in a single smoothie. That sugar might originate from whole foods like fruits or from sugars added during preparation. Consequently, this leads to a spike in blood sugar, which might leave many of us feeling less than optimal. Whether it results in a drop in energy or a feeling of hunger shortly after consumption.
Nutritious smoothie recipes include protein, starchy carbohydrates, non-starchy carbs (such as greens), and healthy fats. To achieve this, you utilize what I refer to as the Foundational Five.
A Foundational Five Nourish Meal encompasses any meal that includes all five components from the Foundational Five framework. This comprises non-starchy carbohydrates, both starchy and sugary carbs, fats, proteins, and the Flavor Factor.
